Dear 2019 10U Black Parents:

My name is Fred Azcarate, (I have two kids playing for Wells this season, Danilo is on 14U Black and Alex is on 10U Black). I’ll be Team Manager for 10U Black this season.

I know everyone is very excited as we kick off the season this coming weekend. I wanted to reach out to our team’s parents/guardians to ask for some help during the season. We have a number of roles that we need to fill in order to have a safe and successful season.

Starting with our game on Sunday (9:15am Sunday at Wells vs. Harford White) we need volunteers for:

1. Timekeeper/Scorekeepers (2 per game – home games only) – We need one person to update the scoreboard (run the clock) and one to keep track of statistics (shots on goal etc., penalties etc). (Don’t worry we have folks in the club that can help train folks on how to fill these roles – in fact after practice on Friday Coach JJ will do a quick hands on tutorial on running the scoreboard for folks that are interested).
2. Penalty Box Parent (1 per game – home/away games) – We need one person to staff the penalty box during the game.

In addition to these in game roles our team also needs 2 locker room monitors. These are responsible adults to be in the locker room (or just outside) to ensure that they can intervene if necessary. Locker room monitors are a new requirement as part of USA Hockey’s Safesport initiative. Locker room monitors (and Team Managers will need to get a Volunteer Membership number from USA Hockey (free) and complete a background check ($20 fee) and Safesport online training (free).
