Wells Warriors Recieve Grant

The Wells Warriors Youth Hockey Association is pleased to announce that we have received a 2017 Crerar Grant grant from the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association for the purpose of purchasing divider boards for our home rink.

We are still looking for donations to cover our portion of the grant. You can make donations through our Facebook page. If you are looking to sponsor our club we are also seeking sponsors. Sponsors can contact Jay Johns President of the association at wwyhapresident@gmail.com

Sunday November 13, the Baltimore Stars came to visit College Park with hopes of putting an end to the Wells Warriors Midget’s win streak. Just 22 seconds into the game Max Morgan started the scoring by beating the visiting goalie. Both teams played tight defense until Max Morgan netted another goal with an assist from Josh Falcone at 5:45 of the first. At the 3:07 mark Miles White scored his first of the season with an assist from Josh Falcone on the Power Play. At the end of the first, the Warriors were leading 3-0.

The second period scoring started with Josh Falcone denting the net with an assist from Miles White at 14:44. Charlie Wagner scored his first of the season at 6:20 assisted by Charles Wilson. With 2:40 left in the second period the Stars took advantage of a 5 on 3 power play and slid one past Jacob Eberhardt who was filling in for an injured Noah Haycock.

Max Morgan scored his third goal of the game on a break away unassisted at 14:16 of the third period. Baltimore scored their second goal at 5:53 of the third period. Max Morgan scored a short handed goal with an assist from Josh Falcone at 1:49 in the third period for his fourth goal. Jacob Eberhardt gets a win in his first game in net, stopping 11 of 13 shots.

Sunday November 13, the Wells Warriors Squirts welcomed the Baltimore Stars to our house for our season opener. Just over 2 minutes from the first puck drop, James Johns IV scored his first ever goal beating the Baltimore Stars goalie. Not to be outdone Patrick Johns scored just 18 seconds after his little brother at the 12:40 mark of the first period. Baltimore ended up scoring one before the end of the first person.

As the second period started the game was well balanced, until Patrick Johns scored his second goal of the game going top shelf over the Baltimore Stars net minder at 11:20 in the second period. Baltimore would come back and score two goals before the end of the second period to tie the game up.

With the game being tied in the third period, Patrick Johns again took the puck into the attack zone and put the puck into the net for his first Hat Trick ever at 9:33 of the third period. Baltimore came back and put 3 goal in on the Warriors. Vincent MacDonnell-Monahan tried to mount the come back by scoring at 1:51 of the third. At the end of the game, the Baltimore Stars were able to hold off the Wells Warriors 6-5. Mateo Concha in his first start between the pipes stopped 28 of 34 shots for a 0.824 Save Percentage and a GAA of 6.

Bantams Host Frederick Blue

Sunday November 13, Frederick Blue came to visit the Wells Warrior Bantams at home. The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead when Logan Masaya put one past the visiting goalie with an assist from Everett Stephen at 9:33. Frederick came back to tie the game about 7 minutes later. Daniel Saathoff put the Warriors back up when he fired one into the back of the net with 1:33 left in the period with an assist from Chase Williams.

Frederick came out fired up in the beginning of the second and tied the game back up. Chase Williams with the assist from Everett Stephen put the Warriors back in the lead at 6:14. Frederick put two more in just before the end of the second to put them in the lead.

Daniel Saathoff tied the game just 16 seconds into the third period with a Power Play goal assisted by Logan Mayasa. Frederick answered back by putting 3 more goals up on the scoreboard before Everett Stephen scored on another Power Play with an assist from Daniel Saathoff. As the final horn sounded, Frederick Blue defeated the Warriors 7-5. Henry Badt faced 39 shots while stopping 32 for a 0.821 Save Percentage and a 7.00 GAA for the game.
