Sunday October 28 the 10U Red Wells Warriors made the first of what will be many trips across the Maryland line to take on a Virginia team, the Potomac Patriots. This is the first year for the Patriots in the CCHL. The 10U Red Warriors took the ice wearing the retro red jerseys. The Patriots jumped out to a quick lead putting two pucks past Ian Barnes in the first 5 minutes of the game. James Johns IV answered back putting his first of two goals past the Patriots goalie at the 5:58 mark with an assist from Kevin Cullins. As Johns’ shift was coming to an end he caught a break out pass from Madhav Parthasarathi and put the tying puck past the home team net minder.

The Patriots went on the clamp down defensively and were able to slide 7 more goals past Barnes. For a first game of the season with only a few practices under their belt, the 10U Red Warriors played a good game. Ian Barnes was given the game puck for the game. While Barnes let 9 goal in he faced 28 shots and made some amazing saves.

The Wells Warriors would like to extend our congratulations to the Wells Figure Skating team on having a fantastic 2018 season. Their season wrapped this summer after having competed from January through June at a variety of local and national events. Their season was highlighted by taking 2nd place overall this past June, at the ISI 2018 Conference Championships, a national competition!. The Wells Warriors are extremely proud of Wells Figure Skating family for how well they did this season! They spent countless hours on and off the ice preparing themselves to make it happen.

In addition to the figure skating team, some of our Wells Warriors hockey players competed alongside the figure skaters at Conference Championships. As always, we are truly a family at Wells! The figure skating community and the hockey community are truly a family, who support each other in all their endeavors. Thank you to the staff and coaches at Wells who make this happen through their love and dedication.

Congratulations again to the Wells Figure Skating Team on an outstanding season!

Congratulations to our Wells Warriors of all ages – from Mites to Adults! – who competed this weekend in Wells ISI (Ice Sports Industry) Spring Invitational competition. Warriors could compete in Hockey Skating, Hockey Puck Control/Shooting, and Hockey Goalie events to show off their individual skills. A few of our Warriors competed in additional events such as stroking or Couples Spotlight. All our Warriors did a fantastic job skating and had a great time. We thank our Wells co-team of the Wells Figure Skating Team for inviting us to participate in such a fun event. We enjoyed watching your skating and cheering on your skaters as well. For this competition, the Wells teams were truly a family, in that all skaters, whether hockey or figure, competed for the Wells team together! No where else, do you get a true TEAM, than at Wells!

Following up on their CCHL Cup win last weekend, the Wells Warrior Bantam team headed to York, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in the York Ice Arena Rec Tournament. We are proud of the 14U Warriors for bringing home second place in the tournament! The 14U Warriors went into the championship game with a goals for of 21 and 0 goals against. The team they played had only let in 2 goals in the tournament.

It was tied up 1-1 with less than 6 minutes left in the game when the Sunbury Stampede was able to get a second puck past our net minder. It was a great game played by both teams and a great tournament and season by our 14U Warriors. The game was a tough physical bout between the two power houses. Sunbury go ton the board early, ending the Warriors tournament shut out in the 1st period, but our Warriors did not let that phase them. Chase Williams deflected a power-play, blue line shot from Suereken Matsuyama for the equalizer early in the 2nd. The two teams would continue their ferocious play with hard forechecks and heavy point shots. Both goal minders played absolutely amazing until late in the 3rd when a Sunbury Offensemen found the back of the net for the go-ahead goal. The Warriors shifted their offense to another level with 5+ shots on net in the final 5 minutes of the game, but the Stampede Goalie would not waiver. Our Bantams unfortunately suffered their only loss of the 2017/2018 hockey season in their last game of the travel tournament, 2-1.

We could not be more proud of Head Coach Brian Ferrina, his staff, and the Bantams this season who put together the best Warrior season in program history. This group has been with the program since its inception under Joe Hampton, who the team has dedicated the season to. We look forward to next season when most of the team will be moving up to the Midget team (18U), as well as the 4 Bantams who will be returning to protect their throne!
