The Wells Warriors 18U Black team opened the Warriors 2021-2022 season by making the trek up 95 to Ice World to take on the TI North Stars. The Warriors took the ice with a total of 6 skaters and a goalie. Yes you read that right 6 skaters and a goalie. The Warriors jumped out hard and fast with a goal in the first period from Patrick Johns. The Warriors held strong with a great defense and ended the first period 1-0.

The second period the Warriors broke out the scoring sticks. Suerken Matsuyama started it with a nice shot from the point. George Marcolin followed up with three goals. The North Stars were not push overs. They managed to slide one past goaltender Sam Stewart-Ricketts. At the end of the second period the Warriors had a commanding 5-1 lead.

The third period the Warriors played a great defensive game. But with having a short bench it only take a couple bad plays for things to change. With a pair of off setting penalties the Warriors had no player on the bench for a relief. We were able to kill off the 2 minutes but had to play about another minute before getting a whistle. Unfortunately the whistle came from a goal that happened to find its way to the back of the net. The North Stars were able to put one more puck in the net. With a quick time out the Warriors found themselves on a power play which quickly turned into a 5 on 3 power play with just over 2 minutes left in the game. The Warriors went on the attack and Eddie Marcolin was able to put one in the back of the net through the backdoor.

The Game came to an end with the Warriors winning 6-3. Well played boy, well played.
